According to Kofi Kinaata, his career comes before a $1 million political endorsement.
Well-known musician from Ghana, Kofi Kinaata, has made hints that he would turn down a $1 million offer to support a political party in the upcoming general elections.
Famous for his hit song “Things Fall Apart,” Kofi Kinaata stated that he wanted to remain impartial in the face of growing political unrest in Ghana.
In a recent interview with Nhyira FM, he made clear that he would rather not be linked with any political party and would much rather promote the welfare of the nation without drawing attention to himself.
Kofi Kinaata is still willing to perform at political events if he is properly invited and given a contract, despite having stated that he is not interested in writing campaign songs for political parties. By using this strategy, he can entertain without supporting any political party.
In response to the presenter’s question about whether a $1 million offer would persuade him to change his mind, Kofi Kinaata paused, considering the negative publicity and consequences that would damage his professional reputation.

“Actually, it’s not that horrible, but Ghanaians don’t understand now. They must realize that the stage utilized for rallies was built by electricians, carpenters, and even DJs, who don’t necessarily work for political parties to fulfill their jobs.
Kofi Kinaata also drew attention to the stigma that musicians encounter when they play at political gatherings, drawing a comparison with the acceptance of other professionals’ participation. “Perhaps we could write music for political parties if the stigmatization ends. It’s also preferable to maintain neutrality when political tensions are high. After the elections, we will all unite to support the winner, whom God will have chosen,” he continued.
