Admission Requirements for Undergraduate MSc Computer Science Programme at the University of Ghana and How to Apply Time frame: One year
Closing Date for Applications: Friday, June 28, 2024
QUALIFICATIONS:
A First Degree in Computing, IT, or any related field—such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, etc.—from an accredited university is the minimal need for admission.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
A. ONLY APPLICANTS FROM GHANA
Ghanaian applicants can obtain the University of Ghana application e-voucher for GH¢ 220.00 at Access Bank, Zenith Bank, Universal Merchant Bank, Ecobank, Republic Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, GCB Bank, Unibank, Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Prudential Bank, First Atlantic Bank, and Fidelity Bank. Alternatively, they can be obtained via USSD Payment. The directions on the voucher should be closely followed by applicants when they fill out the online application form.
Those who did not complete their education at the University of Ghana are required to upload and scan the following documents online:
• Transcript and Certificate of Bachelor’s Degree (for applicants to Master’s courses)
• Certificate and Transcript of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees (for those applying for PhD)
Programmes
• Three referee reports are needed; submit the referees’ information online.
PhD candidates should include their research proposals with their applications; these should not exceed four pages.
• If the name on a marriage certificate or gazette has changed, scan and upload it.
The official transcript needs to be scanned into a Word or PDF file and sent with the application.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE NAME HAS CHANGED, THE CERTIFICATE/OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OR THE GAZETTE/MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT THEM.
Interviews will need to be conducted with the originals.
Before submitting their forms, all candidates who graduated from the University of Ghana between 1996 and now should write their “STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS” on them.
How to use USSD to purchase a UG Application voucher
(Note: This information is exclusive to Ghanaian applicants for undergraduate and graduate degrees, diplomas, and HNDs. Nevertheless, Ghanaians applying abroad as undergraduates are exempt from this.
To buy an application e-voucher, simply follow these 4 simple steps:
Enter *887*9# on any network. 1.
2. Go to UG
3. Accept Payment
4. After a successful payment, the user receives an e-voucher by SMS.
The user can get the e-voucher by following these instructions if they do not receive an SMS after the transaction has been properly completed.
To Get Your E-Voucher Back:
1. Enter *887*9#.
2. Click “Yes.”
3. Click “Get E-Voucher.”
4. The E-Voucher’s details, including the University of Ghana, Serial Number, and PIN, are shown.
B. APPLICANTS FROM GHANA AND OVERSEAS INTERNATIONALLY
The following URLs should be used by this applicant category to access the online application form, which they should fill out and submit:

The University requires a non-refundable application processing fee of US$110.00 from all applicants. You have two options for paying this fee: in person or by wire transfer to the University of Ghana Ecobank Account.

The following payment schedule applies to all international students:
• For payments made, use the University of Ghana Fees Collection (FOREX) account name.

Before submission, the pay-in-slips, applicants’ transcripts and certificates, and the application form should all be scanned and attached. The transcript needs to be scanned into a Word or PDF file and sent with the application.
