Akufo-Addo is now prepared to pass over power to Mahama since he is aware that the NPP will lose the 2024 election.
In an indication of a growing acceptance of the ruling party’s deteriorating prospects, National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has hinted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is preparing for an NPP defeat in the impending elections on December 7.
Speaking to supporters in Biakoye, Oti Region, on Monday, November 4, 2024, Mr. Mahama cited recent remarks made by the President, which he interpreted as a tacit admission that a change in power might be imminent.
Mr. Mahama emphasised during the rally that President Akufo-Addo recently promised a peaceful handover of power, indicating that he was prepared to hand it over in the event that the NDC won.
Voting for the NDC is necessary because we will prosecute anyone found guilty of embezzlement.
Dr. Bawumia is unable to hold them responsible. He stated that he would not cede power to me for that reason, Mr. Mahama. said.
He went on to mention Akufo-Addo’s pledge to uphold the election’s outcome, which he saw as a sign of the NPP’s declining power rather than just a democratic pledge.
However, I recently overheard him declare that whoever wins would take over.
He does this merely because he is aware that the NPP will soon lose the election. Mr. Mahama stated, “He is aware that John Dramani Mahama will be returning to the Jubilee House.”
