Board Chairman: GRA surpasses income goal for the first three quarters of 2024.
According to Mr. Joe Ghartey, the board chairman of the Ghana Income Authority (GRA), the Authority has surpassed its income goal for the first three quarters of this year.
He calls the achievement “historic,” highlighting how the authority has managed to secure efficient tax collection even in an election year.
Speaking at the recent Citizen App launch in Accra, Mr. Ghartey thanked all GRA employees and exhorted them to do more for the nation.
“We have not only surpassed the goal for the third quarter but also the goals for the first three quarters of this year. In comparison to the same period in 2003, that result represents a 38.6% gain.
He claims that this year’s tax collection achievement was attained in a “more business-friendly manner,” as opposed to the harsher strategy used in prior years, which has been referred to as harassment.
He said that GRA had surpassed its revenue-collecting goal by employing “digitalisation,” “engagement,” and “education.”
Mr. Ghartey also emphasized that the launch of the Citizen App will help with tax collection and have a beneficial impact on Ghana’s future.
