Court convicts Flavour’s imposter to two years for scamming a US citizen.
A government high court sitting in Lagos, Nigeria, has condemned Boldness Ipaka, an impersonator of well-known Nigerian performer Flavour, to two years in jail for cheating a U.S.-based lady of $53,000.
Nigeria’s Monetary and Monetary Wrongdoings Commission (EFCC) drove the examination concerning Ipaka’s exercises, following a request recorded by Eyitayo Tolulope Abiodun and other concerned parties in the interest of the person in question, Yvette M. Thompson.
The EFCC’s lead specialist, Azibagiri Dan Ekpar, nitty gritty the case in court on Tuesday, framing how Ipaka acted like Flavour, promising to coordinate music shows in the US in return for installment.
As indicated by Ekpar, Ipaka got the assets from Thompson through Bitcoin exchanges, which were hence changed over into Naira and saved into his Entrance Financial balance.

According to the investigation, Ipaka, who is from Benin City in Edo State, had successfully orchestrated the scam in 2021 by taking advantage of Thompson’s trust.
“The litigant conceded in his explanation that he mimicked Flavour, getting $53,000 from a United States resident. Ekpar stated during the court proceedings, “He wired the funds through Bitcoin wallets and converted them into his Access Bank account, where he received the value in Naira.”
Through Zenith and Access Bank’s manager’s checks, the EFCC was able to recover N7.9 million from Ipaka during the investigation. The court ordered that the money be forfeited to Thompson, the victim.
Justice Dehinde Dipeolu, who presided over the case, criticised Ipaka’s actions and handed him a two-year prison sentence.
In any case, the court gave a choice to Ipaka to pay a fine of N2 million as opposed to serving the jail term. Also, the recuperated N7.9 million will be sent back to Thompson as a component of the compensation.
