Deloitte’s technology, media, and telecom estimates show experts are optimistic about the economy’s influence.

Experts who spoke at the Deloitte Ghana 2024 Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) projections webinar are optimistic about how the evolving TMT trend would affect the economies of Ghana and Africa.

“While Traditional AI predicts a value in real-time, Generative AI can create artifacts and it’s beneficial to business growth in the form of business strategy, taking customer experience to a hyper-personalized level through more engaging experience for customers,” stated Jania Okwechime, Partner, Data Analytics and AI at Deloitte Nigeria, summarising the differences between the two types of AI.

According to her, these components are in the vanguard of innovation and growth, changing society and propelling economic development in Ghana and elsewhere.

According to Dr. Ing Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, the telecom industry has been driving the Sustainable Development Goals since 2016 by prioritizing environmental, sustainable, and governance issues with the GSMA (Global Organisation for the Telecommunication Industry).

In order to promote sustainability in the TMT industry, he emphasised the necessity of cooperation through academic institutions, non-governmental organisations, and public-private partnerships.

“While the telecommunications industry is spearheading the digitalization drive, it is important to examine how other verticals are incorporating sustainability into their policy formulation. He continued, “We must take into account the earth, where we live, because the earth is highly important, as we drive these innovative changes across all sectors.”

Emmanuel Kwarteng, CEO of MainOne Ghana, emphasized that legislators must make sure that rural residents have simple access to the internet and other digital infrastructures to address coverage gaps.

He thinks that doing this will close the internet gap.

According to Alex Okyere, Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana, there would be significant progress towards sustainable digital transformations in multimedia and telecoms if internet usage and related costs fall.

The significance of cooperation in promoting sustainability in the TMT industry was also emphasized in this webinar.
