Due to leg discomfort, Hajia4Reall’s ankle monitor was taken off, and the sentencing date was postponed.
It has been claimed that Hajia4Reall’s ankle monitor, which served as a continual reminder of the limitations she encountered during her trial, has been taken off.
This happened as a result of her attorney Eleana Fast of “The Fast Law Firm” pleading with the court to have it temporarily removed so that an MRI could be performed.
Fast kindly asked that Ms. Mona Montrage’s pre-trial terms be changed so that her ankle monitor may be taken out for an MRI scan in a letter to the court.
Her left ankle was hurting, so she requested the scan, as advised by her physician. The request was submitted with appropriate medical documents.
“In the aforementioned case, I am Ms. Mona Montrage’s attorney of record. With much respect, I am writing to ask that Ms. Montrage’s pre-trial restrictions be changed to permit the temporary removal of her ankle monitor so that she can get an MRI. Ms. Montrage’s doctor has advised the scan because she has been having pain in her left ankle.
“Ms. Montrage is scheduled for the MRI at 574 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey 07090 on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 8 am, if approved by the court. The statement continued, “I have also sent the necessary medical documents.
After that, the request from Hajia4Reall’s legal team was approved, and that same day, her ankle monitor was taken off.
A second development was that Hajia4Reall’s legal team issued a second letter to the court asking for a two-week adjournment of the sentencing, only five days before it was supposed to happen.
The letter, which Eleana Fast, Esq. co-signed, explained that more time was needed to collect the paperwork required for the defense’s sentencing submission.
These included glowing letters of support and a letter from Ms. Montrage’s immigration lawyer outlining possible repercussions for her immigration in the event of her conviction.
Once the defense had confirmed with the US Attorney and Steiner—who had no objections—they suggested June 19 or June 24–28 as potential dates for sentence.
“I, along with Eleana Fast, Esq., represent Mona Montrage in the aforementioned matter. We humbly write to the court requesting that the scheduled sentencing date be postponed for a period of two weeks. The defense is requesting this postponement because, in spite of our best efforts, some materials are still pending that are required for the defense sentencing submission. Specifically, we have several letters to support that are still pending. We are also awaiting a letter from Ms. Montrage’s immigration attorney regarding any potential immigration consequences that may arise from her conviction.
The letter stated that the party is available for sentencing on June 19 or June 24–June 28 if the court so desires.
On June 28, 2024, the judge rescheduled Hajia4Reall’s sentencing after granting the request the previous day.
