Ghana’s largest transformative tool is free SHS; it reduces adolescent pregnancies and takes children off the streets—NAPO.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running partner, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has hailed the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme as the most important educational reform in Ghanaian history.
NAPO stressed during an appearance on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show that the policy had significantly decreased adolescent pregnancies and removed children from the streets, giving them access to education.
He drew a comparison between the current status of education and that of former President John Dramani Mahama when NAPO said that the sector was beset by outstanding debts.
He explained how Free SHS has provided the chance for education to innumerable kids who would have otherwise been selling on the streets.
All of the kids have been signed up for the free SHS program. Since the implementation of free SHS, Ghana has seen a significant decrease in teenage pregnancies.
“The Free SHS has been the biggest single transformational tool to the citizenry of Ghana,” said NAPO.
