Well-known Accra-based radio moderator and Reggae artist, Blakk Rasta, is presently 50 years old.
Blakk Rasta, who was born Abubakar Ahmed on September 2, 1974, in Tamale to devoted Ahmadi-Muslim parents, has had a significant impact on the media and music scene in Ghana.
During his tenure at Happy 98.9 FM, he was awarded the title of “Best Reggae DJ in Ghana.”
Blakk Rasta is well-known for his outspoken views on national issues. He has produced numerous hit reggae songs, including “My African Queen,” “Barack Obama,” “Kunchoko,” “Robert Mugabe,” “Gaafara,” “Kwame Nkrumah,” “Gaddafi,” “Kofi Annan Says,” and “Serwaa Akoto.”
Blakk Rasta has worked at Hitz 103.9 FM, Zylofon FM, and 3FM, among other radio stations, as well as the controversial midmorning show “Taxi Driver.”
