Following a blog post that named him as one of several Nigerian celebrities supposedly engaging in same-sex relationships, Nollywood actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot dismissed recent speculations over his sexual orientation.

The list, which featured well-known actors and celebrities, immediately sparked heated social media speculation and public outrage.

In a TVC interview, Elliott called the reports untrue and said he didn’t have time to respond to them.

“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life?” asked the man.

He went on to say, “Secondly, it is an opinion being conceived.” “I don’t think it’s necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good.”

“I am straight,” Elliot declared unequivocally, affirming his position. I’m the only straight person you can ever have.”

He underlined that although everyone is entitled to live their lives as they see fit, he will not let such rumours divert him from his work.
