Mahama and Bawumia will file presidential nomination paperwork today.
Former President John Dramani Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will file their nominations with the Electoral Commission (EC) today, Monday, September 9, to run in this year’s general elections.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, will submit the paperwork on behalf of John Mahama.
In a Facebook post, Mr Mahama stated, “My nomination forms as Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Vice Presidential Candidate, will be formally submitted to the Electoral Commission on Monday at 2 p.m.”
“The submission of the forms by our National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, marks a watershed moment in our fight for change on December 7. We are all in this together, collaborating with Ghanaians to RESET Ghana’s economy and ‘Build the Ghana we want together’.”
Dr. Bawumia will be accompanied by his running mate and vice presidential candidate, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Party’s National Chairman and General Secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and a few party leaders.
“After filing his presidential nomination, the presidential candidate would be addressing party sympathizers and the general public at the party’s national headquarters at 9:00 am,” a statement issued by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Mr. Frimpong announced.
