Partnering with KNUST, the Mastercard Foundation will teach 200 students from affiliated colleges to become ambassadors for e-learning.
In collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will teach 200 of its students as well as those from other connected teacher preparation and nursing schools how to use Electronic Learning (E-learning) technology.
Under the supervision of facilitators from the KNUST E-Learning Centre, participants in the two-week intensive workshop, which is the second iteration of the E-learning initiative, will receive training in nine different areas, including managing and utilizing online libraries and e-learning resources and how to manage anxiety online.
Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, vice chancellor of KNUST, emphasized the importance of the program and urged the ambassadors to make full use of it.
“The goal of the e-learning project is to provide our students with the digital skills and knowledge they need to become successful online learners. These learners will then go on to become proud ambassadors within their colleges and individual institutions, serving as beacons of online learning for their peers.
The fact that the participants will receive in-depth instruction on learning management systems and how to access and utilize a variety of e-learning materials is encouraging. In addition to teaching technical skills, this program aims to promote a culture of innovation and digital literacy, the speaker stated.
“As a leading Science and Technology University, we have taken concrete and bold steps in our digital transformation and to support you to embrace the e-space and succeed in your training,” the Vice Chancellor continued. “Our world today is undeniably digital.”
I implore you to seize this once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity and approach the next two weeks with all of your passion and determination. You represent creativity and change beyond your status as a student. It is crucial to acknowledge our gratitude to the Mastercard Foundation, one of our esteemed partners, for providing us with steadfast and notable support during all of these young people’s life transformations.
Courage Julius Logah, the principal investigator of the E-Learning Initiative, has encouraged participants to apply the skills they will learn for their own and the institution’s development, and he is enthusiastic about the program’s success.
“KNUST keeps expanding its faculty’s ability to create online courses so that students can continue to learn at any time and from any location. E-learning and utilizing digital tools to improve your education are the way of the future. The goal of this project is to equip you with the variety of abilities necessary to become proficient learners.
He pleaded, “Our goal is for you to become evangelists for the various tools and abilities you will pick up, impart them to your peers, and transform your institutions into universities without walls.”
