Regarding Sarkodie’s purported engagement for an Olympic performance, DJ Mensah clarifies.

Michael Owusu Addo, better known by his stage name Sarkodie, is a rapper from Ghana who is supposed to play during this year’s Olympic opening ceremony in Paris.

In an interview on Asaase Radio, DJ Mensah said this while outlining some of the things he had planned for the year.

“Sarkodie and I have a few shows together. We haven’t made the announcement yet, but we have a gig at the Olympics opening in August as well as a mandatory trip to the US. Additionally, he noted, “I have another performance in Canada called Ghana Fest, which is similar to Ghana Party in the Park.

DJ Mensah confirmed on X, though, that Sarkodie will perform at an event that takes place during that time rather than at the opening ceremony, as he had stated in the interview.

Before I’m misunderstood, let me make this clear: there ‘MIGHT’ be an event in Paris during the Olympics, but it’s ‘NOT’ during the opening ceremony. This is to further elucidate the information that is now in circulation,” he stated.

The opening ceremony this year, which is being directed by Thomas Jolly, will take place outside of an Olympic stadium for the first time in the competition’s history.

An estimated 600,000 people are expected to watch the ceremony, which will be aired on 80 enormous public screens. The Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie’s performance is probably going to mark the beginning of his European tour.

He revealed an Amsterdam leg on June 29 at the prestigious Paradiso live music venue. The 1968-opened 1750-seat venue has hosted a number of legendary performances, such as Adele, Lady Gaga, and the Rolling Stones.
