To give teacher candidates additional time to register, the National Teaching Council (NTC) of Ghana has postponed the 2024 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE 1).
In response to a request from the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), the NTC stated in a news statement dated March 1 that it has extended the registration deadline from March 10 to March 17.
Dennis Osei-Owusu, Head of Public Affairs at the NTC, stated, “The extension will help awarding institutions upload the data of qualified students from Colleges of Education onto our examination portal.”
Given the registration extension, the NTC has rescheduled the March 17–19 exam dates to April 22–24.
“We recognize the significance of this test for the future careers of teacher candidates. According to Osei-Owusu, the goal of extending the deadline is to enable as many eligible students to sit for the GTLE 1 as feasible.
To guarantee high standards of instruction and professionalism in the teaching profession, the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination was instituted.
