The government of Bawumia will provide scholarships to individuals with impairments to pursue higher education.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared that his government will give priority to providing scholarships to all those with disabilities so they can pursue postsecondary education.

Speaking on Friday [May 3, 2024] during his Western North Regional campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia said that his government will give special priority to educational support for individuals with disabilities who meet the requirements for postsecondary education. He also emphasized his commitment to helping the most vulnerable members of society.

The NPP Flagbearer stated, “I think we should support people with disabilities a little bit more.”

“We are giving scholarships to all manner of people but I want to dedicate some of the money from the scholarship Secretariat and GETFUND to provide free tertiary education, both tuition and accommodation to all persons with disabilities, who will make it into the universities so that they can all benefit from that,” he said.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia stated that his government will provide additional assistance to the disabled and other marginalized members of society.

He talked about his efforts to assist the weaker members of society, such as his role as Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that he is personally dedicated to helping society’s most disadvantaged individuals because “it gives him joy.”

He continued by saying that his government would prioritize providing greater help for people with disabilities and other vulnerable parts of society. As Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, he has been actively involved in numerous programs that assist the weak.
