The Tema Motorway to Ashaley Botwe School Junction project was officially launched.

The six-kilometre Ashaley Botwe School Junction to Tema Motorway Road project was officially opened by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in an effort to strengthen the region’s road system and boost business.

On Monday, August 26, 2024, the dual carriageway was officially opened. It features amenities such as lay-bys, sidewalks, bike lanes, Tema Motorway slip ramps, and service lanes on both sides to improve safety and convenience for all drivers.

The project, carried out by Oswal Investments Limited, aims to improve road safety in locations such as Ashale Botwe, School Junction, and Borteyman, leading to the Motorway, as well as cut down on travel times, minimize transportation expenses, and lessen floods.

Fulfilling commitments

The President stated at the inauguration that the project’s completion represented a strong commitment to keeping commitments and making sure that every citizen benefited from the government.

According to him, the strategic connection was more than just transportation; it involved strengthening ties between communities, promoting economic expansion, and opening up fresh doors for success.
According to him, the road connects the northern areas of Borteyman, Adjiringanor, Adentan, and Dodowa with the eastern half of Accra’s communities, including Tema Community 7, 18, 19, 23, and 24.

President Akufo-Addo claimed that the project would help relieve traffic congestion, create new economic corridors, and encourage the growth of businesses and communities by successfully connecting Accra’s east and west.

“Let it be known that the advancement we are currently seeing is not the result of luck; rather, it is the outcome of purposeful, targeted leadership and the combined efforts of committed professionals.
To see this project through to completion, the Department of Urban Roads, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, and our esteemed contractors have put in endless hours of work. The President remarked, “I applaud their commitment, and I must remind all Ghanaians that this achievement is but one of many under my administration.”

“Because we believe in a Ghana that provides and works for everyone, we are building roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals all across our nation, from east to west and north to south.

“Indeed, under my administration, we have added an unprecedented 12,830 km to the national road network,” he stated.

precious obstacles

According to Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways, commuters from Tema to Borteyman, School Junction, Ashale Botwe, Adentan, and beyond faced numerous difficulties prior to this project, including poor accessibility, insufficient connectivity between communities, and longer travel times as a result of the previous route’s poor condition.

Furthermore, he said that the route would become impassable in certain areas during the rainy season, making the challenges encountered by drivers even worse.

I can now state, with all humility, that we have overcome these obstacles. According to him, the School Junction to Motorway Road project was thoughtfully planned to address these problems adequately.
