Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Ablekuma West Member of Parliament, has made a sincere appeal to the government to move quickly to build a sea defence wall at Gbegbesie-Shiabu in Dansoman to shield locals from the destructive power of tidal waves.

Owusu-Ekuful underlined how urgently the government must take action to safeguard Dansoman’s citizens from the dual dangers of flooding and tidal surges. She clarified that although the sea defence wall is essential to stopping additional damage, bureaucratic hold-ups have caused development to stall.
Owusu-Ekuful cautioned that the entire Dansoman region would be impacted if the sea defence wall is not constructed quickly. “At the moment, the road is the only thing standing between us and the sea,” she stated. And that is insufficient. There are already a lot of communities below sea level. We could lose everything if we don’t take immediate action.
The seriousness of the situation is reflected in her impassioned appeal. “The locals are in dire straits. They live in continual terror of the sea encroaching. With anguish choking her voice, she promised, “I will not rest until the construction begins.”
