Video: Mahama’s billboard is purportedly being removed by direction of Effutu MCE.
A billboard featuring National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, James Kofi Annan, has purportedly been ordered to be taken down by Alhaji Zubeiru Kasim, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Effutu Municipal Assembly.
The billboard was torn down under circumstances that have generated controversy and debate within the local political environment. It had been built to promote the NDC’s candidates in the impending elections.
Different stakeholders, including locals and political commentators, have responded to the MCE’s decision in different ways. The removal has been condemned by NDC supporters as a politically driven move meant to sabotage their campaign.

They contended that such actions are harmful to fair competition and democratic processes.
However, the MCE has not yet offered a thorough justification for the choice, which has sparked conjecture about potential hidden motives. The John Mahama Campaign team had strongly advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to refrain from engaging in inflammatory behavior.
The declaration comes after concerted efforts to vandalize or disable Mahama’s election billboard in the Tema Central Constituency. In response to a demand from the Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to remove a billboard featuring HE John Dramani Mahama that Alliance Media had erected in Tema, Joyce Bawa Mogtari signed a statement.
It called the act ‘awful’ and said it was an unnecessary provocative attempt to inflame the nation’s political climate. The statement went on to say that Alliance Media, an officially recognized advertising company in Ghana, is authorized to set up out-of-home (OOH) and digital out-of-Home (DOOH) sites across the country.
