Legendary Jamaican dancehall performer Vybz Kartel has announced that he would be hosting his first show in more than ten years, which will be a major turning point in his career. in a special conversation with ER on TVJ.
Kartel stated his delight for the event, which is scheduled to take place in Jamaica in December 2024 and will be followed by dates in other countries.
He made a light-hearted joke about how fans might have to “sell an organ or two” in order to get tickets to the much-anticipated performance.
“We’re making it happen, my fans have been crying out for a comeback concert,” Kartel declared.
Ever since Vybz Kartel’s much-anticipated July 31 release from prison, fans everywhere, especially in Jamaica and the Caribbean, have been clamoring for a live performance from him.
An important development occurred when the Jamaica Court of Appeal unanimously decided to release Kartel and his three co-defendants, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John. In the murder case of Clive “Lizard” Williams, the court denied a retrial, claiming insufficient justification. Notably, should a retrial take place, the court took into account the possible financial and psychological effects on the appellants, especially Kartel’s health.
The four guys were finally released from prison in 2014, having been convicted in 2011 and imprisoned for years prior.
