YEA and GIZ collaborate to empower those with impairments.

The German Development Agency (GIZ) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) inked a collaboration agreement in a historic ceremony to begin the “Make Fashion Inclusive” programme.

Through skill development and employment possibilities in the fashion industry, this initiative seeks to empower individuals with disabilities (PWDs). The YEA CEO, Kofi Baah Agyepong, claims that the organisation has already achieved great progress in helping people with disabilities (PWDs). Notable achievements include the establishment of disability desks in each of the 266 YEA locations nationwide and the hiring of 282 PWDs to serve as district disability officers.

Fifty participants of the “Make Fashion Inclusive” programme will receive resources and training in addition to a guaranteed market for their products and a shop to help with sales.

Additionally, start-ups and established fashion entrepreneurs will receive assistance with financial literacy, business development, and skill training.

This collaboration exemplifies YEA’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and good jobs for all young Ghanaians, especially those with disabilities.

Giving disabled Individuals a Voice via Fashion

The “Make Fashion Inclusive” initiative is proof of the effectiveness of teamwork and creativity in resolving social and financial issues. By offering PWDs employment opportunities and skill development, YEA and GIZ are contributing to the dismantling of obstacles and advancing inclusivity in the fashion sector.

The provision of contemporary electric sewing machines and the creation of a Skills and Fashion Hub will provide the recipients with the instruments and materials required for their success. In addition to giving PWDs more power, this program is helping Ghana’s fashion sector expand and thrive.

A fresh start for youth employment

Ghana’s youth employment sector is entering a new era thanks to the partnership between YEA and GIZ. Together, they are fostering inclusivity for all Ghanaian kids and producing respectable jobs.

According to Kofi Baah Agyepong, CEO of YEA, “This is a new dawn and a further growth in the cap of the Agency’s mission to create decent jobs.”

“YEA is reaffirming its leadership in youth employment and empowerment with programmes like “Make Fashion Inclusive.”
