When Abeiku Santana criticised Bawumia’s music streaming app, he came under criticism.

Presenter Abeiku Santana of Okay Fm has caused controversy by harshly criticising Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and his recently released music streaming app.

By giving them a forum to increase their earnings, the app seeks to empower Ghanaian musicians.

However, the former NDC Parliamentary hopeful, Abeiku Santana, blasted the project as “useless,” given the absence of equivalent platforms in Nigeria’s larger music business.

Logic-Defying Remarks

Abeiku Santana’s argument has been characterised as illogical and contradictory while he was speaking at an NDC event in Kumasi that was arranged for the entertainment industry to solicit votes for John Mahama.

Although he admitted that Nigeria has a larger music industry, he questioned Ghana’s streaming app’s need.

Despite acknowledging that Ghana’s film industry is smaller than Nigeria’s, he ironically argued for a similar platform for it.

Comparison between Ghanaian and Nigerian Industries
The music and film industries in Ghana are nothing compared to those in Nigeria.

Though he doesn’t apply the same argument to the film industry, Abeiku Santana’s reasoning indicates that Ghana’s smaller sector shouldn’t have a streaming app.

Doubting Santana’s Qualifications

Despite his purported educational background, Abeiku Santana’s remarks have cast doubt on his capacity for critical thought.

His position has been characterised as nonsensical and harmful to the development of Ghana’s entertainment sector.

Political Connections

Some have questioned Abeiku Santana’s affiliation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of political bias in his comments.

Encouragement to Reflect

His remarks have provoked a contentious discussion, with many people calling on him to reconsider his stance.

Industry participants worry that these unfavourable opinions could impede Ghana’s entertainment sector’s advancement.

With the release of his music streaming app, Dr. Bawumia hopes to empower Ghanaian musicians and foster the expansion of the business.
