FIFA and Ghana FA will meet to discuss the use of VAR.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and FIFA will meet extensively to discuss plans to implement Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in Ghana’s domestic levels. The dates of this two-day meeting are October 31 and November 1, 2024, in Accra.

FIFA’s Implementation Assessment Approval Program begins with the occasion, which is referred to as the “VAR kick-off meeting”. Any government that wants to deploy VAR technology must have this software. Important information regarding the VAR project will be reviewed by FIFA and GFA representatives to ensure that everything is prepared for its successful launch in Ghana.

Michael Bailey and Inokuchi Takaaki, two of FIFA’s experts, will be available to offer their expertise on VAR. General Secretary Prosper Harisson Addo will be in charge of the GFA team, which will also include representatives from the legal, IT, competitions, public relations, and referees departments, as well as Alex Kotey, Head of Referees and VAR Team Leader.

The purpose of introducing VAR to Ghana is to raise refereeing accuracy and bring Ghanaian football into compliance with global norms.
