To combat youth unemployment and improve Ghana’s educational system, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has presented a ground-breaking project. The School Support Programme (SSP) is a nationwide initiative that aims to hire, prepare, and assign youths to work as kitchen assistants, school guards, and community education teaching assistants (CETAs) in elementary and secondary schools.

YEA School Support Programme (SSP): An Overview
The Ghana Education Service (GES) and the YEA are working together to strengthen the educational infrastructure and offer schools vital support through the SSP. The initiative aims to empower young people by giving them employment possibilities and enhancing the learning environment for pupils at the same time.

Principal Goals of the SSP:

1. Youth Employment: Providing 18 to 35-year-old Ghanaians with employment possibilities.

2. Educational Support: Improving the classroom atmosphere by hiring more helpers.

Qualifications

In order to be eligible for the YEA School Support Programme, candidates need to fulfill the following requirements:

1. Age range: eighteen to thirty-five years.

2. Education: Completion of Senior High School education is the minimum requirement.

3. A diploma from a Ghanaian institution with accreditation is required for Community Education Teaching Assistants (CETAs).

Open Positions

To accommodate a range of skill levels and interests, the SSP offers three unique roles:

1. School Guards: In charge of upholding a secure and safe learning environment.

2. Kitchen Assistants: Assisting with food preparation and student service.

3. Community Education Teaching Assistants, or CETAs: Helping instructors in the classroom and giving students extra support.

Terms and Conditions of Use

The YEA will employ the successful candidates as beneficiaries for a two-year contractual period. It is significant to remember that secondary schools with boarding facilities will be the main locations for Kitchen Guard deployments.

Procedure for Applications

Via the official YEA application portal at apply.yea.gov.gh or yea.gov.gh, interested parties may submit an application for the YEA School Support Program.
