The music industry’sreset’ is what the Rap Game UK finalists hope to achieve.

Six weeks have been filled with difficult tasks, arguments, and even a live performance at the Leeds Festival on the BBC Introducing Stage.

The four finalists in the final round of The Rap Game UK think it’s time for up-and-coming artists like them to revitalise the business.

The final, which will run tonight on BBC Three and iPlayer, will have Haydog, Layyah, Cbliminal, and Only Zizou competing for the show and a £20,000 cash prize.

Young Kingz reached number 19 in the top 40 Official Albums Chart in September 2013, making Krept and Konan’s album the highest ranking UK album by an unsigned group.

They believe that the four finalists will bring anything fresh to a “bit samey” setting.

“Everyone begins acting in unison when you hear noises. It’s amazing every time we discover new musicians who produce entirely original sounds,” Krept explains. “It’s probably the easiest time to cut through as an up-and-coming rapper,” Haydog continues. Presenter DJ Target believes “it definitely represents a huge part of UK culture” and has been doing so since 2019.

“It speaks to an audience that often are left out of the conversations. “Zizou is the only one who can identify with it.

“Music will be the only focus for six weeks. It’s absurd that we may spit our bars in front of these well-known performers.

However, many of them are there to encourage others to become involved at a time when social media can alter everything for rappers seeking to break through, especially outside of London, even though their main goal is to succeed as rappers and win the lottery.

Cbliminal declares, “I’m wearing it for my city, Nottingham.”

“It’s nice to be able to have the youngsters within my city look up to it and watch the show and think: ‘Well if he’s doing it then there’s no reason why I can’t do it’.”

It’s an opportunity for Haydog to represent his city.

“This is an enormous chance. I work with young people occasionally, and it’s nice to be someone who young people look up to, particularly in my community.

“Anyone with a dream who is out there. Keep going until you achieve your goal. Remain focused and never give up.

Layyah, whose rap on being a woman went viral, said that the goal is to encourage girls to take up the mic in a scene that is dominated by men.

Layyah is regarded as “a generational talent” by her guest coach, Fumez the Engineer.

“You can’t teach what she has – it’s a gift.”

Layyah says it “just makes me wanna go harder for all the females out there” because she is the only woman remaining in the final.

“Every young lady. She says, “I’m attempting to represent.”
