Jay-Z demands that the identity of the rape accuser be made public or that the lawsuit be dropped.

Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs are accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 following the MTV Video Music Awards. The accusations are denied by both men.

Jay-Z has requested that the case be dropped or that the identity of the woman who claims he raped her when she was 13 be made public.

The accuser, who goes by the name “Jane Doe” (an anonymous designation under US law), claims that the attack occurred in 2000 following the MTV Video Music Awards, reportedly with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Combs and Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, both refute the accusations.

The accuser’s choice to sue under the alias “Jane Doe” was “inconsistent with a genuine effort to determine the truth or falsity of these allegations as opposed to an effort to procure a quick, extortionate settlement,” according to a court filing seen by Sky’s US news partner NBC News.

Mr. Spiro stated that Jay-Z was “respectfully seeking either dismissal of the allegations or disclosure of the plaintiff’s identity” .

He continued: “It is not consistent with justice, fairness or the rules governing federal proceedings for the plaintiff and her counsel to smear [the] defendant’s good name in ways that are calculated to feed media coverage and thus inflict maximum public relations damage while the core fact of [the] plaintiff’s identity… remains wholly hidden from view.”

In an interview with NBC News on Monday, Tony Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney, responded to Mr. Spiro’s request by stating that he is representing 120 women in lawsuits against Combs.

“Anyone who implies that a demand letter, particularly the one I sent, is extortion or blackmail is stupid,” Mr. Buzbee stated.

“These kinds of demand letters are sent on a daily basis across the United States, and attempting to attack me to take the focus off of the alleged perpetrator won’t work and it won’t intimidate us.”

On Sunday, the Southern District of New York received a new filing of the federal complaint against Combs and Jay-Z. At first, it had just named Combs.

The girl was dropped off at the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall by a friend, according to the lawsuit, and she contacted other limousine drivers to try to get into the concert or after party without a ticket, according to NBC News.

According to reports, one driver informed Doe that she “fit what Diddy was looking for” and that he worked for Combs.

She reportedly felt “woozy, lightheaded and felt [like] she needed to lie down” after being served a drink.

According to the lawsuit, Combs and Jay-Z entered the room shortly after, and Combs told her, “You are ready to party!”

She claims that while Combs and an unidentified female celebrity looked on, Jay-Z took off her clothes, restrained her, and sexually assaulted her. She claims that as Jay-Z and the woman watched, Combs also sexually assaulted her.

She “grabbed her clothes” and hurried to the closest gas station after the claimed assault, when she called her father.

She is requesting damages that are not mentioned.

Jay-Z delivered a long statement to NBC News in response to the accusations.

He wrote: “I beg you to file a criminal case, not a civil one, because these accusations are so egregious in nature! Would you not agree that someone who would perpetrate such a crime against a youngster ought to be imprisoned?

“These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

“My only heartbreak is for my family,” he continued. My wife and I will need to have a conversation with our kids, one of whom is old enough that her friends will undoubtedly read the press and enquire about the veracity of these allegations and the brutality and avarice of people. I lament the loss of innocence once more.

“Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable,” he said.

Jay-Z and Beyonce met in the year 2000 and have been married since 2008. Together, they are parents to three kids.

Meanwhile, federal prosecutors in New York have charged Combs with a number of charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. His trial is set for May 5 and he is currently being held in Brooklyn.

“Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defences, and the integrity of the judicial process,” Combs’ attorneys said in a prior statement, refuting claims of rape, sexual assault, and misconduct.

“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
