Ghanaians have been asked to support former President John Dramani Mahama in the general elections of 2024 by Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who is the running partner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate.

She has effectively outlined the benefits of voting for Mahama, including a renewed dedication to empowering women, creating jobs, and putting Ghana back on track for sustainable development.

At a recent rally, renowned scholar Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the first female candidate for vice president of a major Ghanaian political party, emphasized the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) vision for the country.

Her speech focused on three important topics: gender equality, unemployment, and the need for new leadership to address Ghana’s socioeconomic problems.

Creating jobs is a key component of Mahama’s 2024 campaign, especially for Ghana’s growing youth population. Finding gainful employment has been a recurrent problem for many Ghanaians, particularly recent graduates.

In order to solve this, Mahama’s strategy calls for industrialisation, infrastructure spending, and the modernisation of industries including technology and agriculture.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that if given another chance, Mahama’s administration would prioritise measures that support the development of jobs and give business owners possibilities.

“It is important to empower the private sector and implement innovative programs to create jobs in both urban and rural areas,” she said.

When the residents of Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West Constituency demanded that she speak to them before leaving the town, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, a fervent supporter of women’s rights, complied and voluntarily conveyed the NDC’s superior message.

As a fundamental component of Mahama’s governing ideology, she emphasised the importance of women’s emancipation, saying that “a vote for Mr. John Dramani Mahama is a vote for jobs, empowerment of women, and an opportunity to reset Ghana.

She maintained that initiatives that will empower women politically, socially, and economically are a top priority in Mahama’s vision.

This entails giving women entrepreneurs financial help, expanding the number of women in leadership roles, and enhancing girls’ access to education.

Closing the gender gap and fostering an inclusive society are the goals of these programs.

Many Ghanaians are desperate for change as a result of the country’s current socioeconomic circumstances, which include high inflation, debt, and a depreciating currency.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang presented the impending elections as a chance to start over and steer the nation in the correct direction.

She claims that Mahama presents an opportunity to make up for previous errors and guide Ghana towards social stability, economic recovery, and inclusive progress.

She asked people to take into account Mahama’s prior successes and his goals for a more forward-thinking Ghana.

She contended that Mahama’s leadership during his previous term had a noticeable effect on Ghanaians’ quality of life, from breakthroughs in the energy sector to healthcare improvements to educational changes.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s message is clear as Ghana prepares to cast its ballots in 2024: voting for Mahama is a vote for jobs, women’s empowerment, and a revitalised country.

Together with his running mate, Mahama pledges to address unemployment, promote gender equality, and offer the guidance Ghana needs to overcome its present problems.

Many Ghanaians who are optimistic about positive change and a better future for their nation find resonance in the NDC’s ideals.
