YEA and GIZ collaborate to empower those with impairments.

The German Development Agency (GIZ) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) inked a collaboration agreement in a historic ceremony to begin the “Make Fashion Inclusive” programme.

Through skill development and employment possibilities in the fashion industry, this initiative seeks to empower individuals with disabilities (PWDs). The YEA CEO, Kofi Baah Agyepong, claims that the organisation has already achieved great progress in helping people with disabilities (PWDs). Notable achievements include the establishment of disability desks in each of the 266 YEA locations nationwide and the hiring of 282 PWDs to serve as district disability officers.

Fifty participants of the “Make Fashion Inclusive” programme will receive resources and training in addition to a guaranteed market for their products and a shop to help with sales.

The “Make Fashion Inclusive” initiative is proof of the effectiveness of teamwork and creativity in resolving social and financial issues. The provision of contemporary electric sewing machines and the creation of a Skills and Fashion Hub will provide the recipients with the instruments and materials required for their success. In addition to giving PWDs more power, this program is helping Ghana’s fashion sector expand and thrive.
