The 2024 AGM of the Ghana Institute of Planning has been launched.

The Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP) has called on its members to step up their efforts for better and sustainable city planning as it kicks off its 2024 Annual Conference and General Meeting (AGCM).

The call was made by GIP President and Planner Percy Anaab Bukari, who stated that as physical planning activities greatly benefit in the growth of the country, one should not give up on attempts to stop haphazard physical developments in order to create a sustainable city in the future.

In Sunyani, he was addressing at the opening of the 53rd AGCM, which has as its theme “The Nexus between Integrated Planning and Ghana’s Decentralised Development: Prospects, Challenges, and the Way Forward.” The event is set for November 21 and 22 of this year.

Activities

The induction of new Institute members and a visit to the Kintampo Water Falls to determine the GIP’s contribution to the growth and modernization of the tourist destination are two events that will define the 2024 AGCM.

Planner James Eta-Era was re-elected as Chairman, Planner Adjei Asare Baffour Sr. as Vice Chairman, Planner Gifty Nyarko as Secretary, and Anthonia Ayamga as Sunyani Zone of the GIP Organiser as part of the launch.

The Nkwakawhene of Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Baah Nyantakyi Antoapomah; Fiapre Kyidomhemaa’s Nana Abena Boatenmaa II; Prof. Jonas Akrugu; Dr. Rejoice Gyebi; and Dr. Michael Adanney were present at the event.

Additional figures were Pln. I.B. Ankomah, the Sunyani Municipal Coordinating Director, and Pln. Frank Martey Korley, the Regional Director of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority.
